memories of another lifetime

I haven't started off with journalism straight away. At first I was in the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, Belgium. I studied something called social and military sciences and  in the meantime I got the military training. There were quite some things that I disliked of course, otherwise I would have stayed there. But the purpose of this post , isn't pointing at things I disliked, but pointing at those I did actually like.

Such as the training, if it wasn't for the injuries I got because of it, I would have loved the training, the military one, the physical one, and even the lack of sleep.

I used to have a roomie, and a nice view outside my window, I could always look at all those men and women with loads of stripes and stars on their shoulders. They had shimmering medals on their  chests and wore all kinds of uniforms. You see, it always depends on what component you're in. In the first year, unless you're already having the pilote or ATC training, you get a statute called 'all weapons' . It technically means that you can still be divided into every possible weapon ( weapon meaning the engineers, infantry, artillery, etc. ...)

You're probably wondering why I am telling you all this, well  the reason  is the fact that this friday , I am going to that Royal Military Academy again, this time as a civilian. The Music Band is giving their opening concert , and a friend of mine asked me to come over and to be there as her companion.

I wonder wether things have changed... The army 's usually an institution that barely changes.  Very conservative in a non-political way. The seeds of the changes I've recommended my Captain and Colonel probably didn't find proper soil to grow, but it would have helped them. The less we divide the French speaking and the Dutch speaking people of Belgium, the better it is. I believe that the army should be the first one to create a good cohesion between these two big, Belgian populations.

Letters, little pieces of art

Have you ever considered a letter being art? Not the clearest form of art, but a very personal and unique kind of art. No random red square on white canvas... No it is something small and kind one has put efforts in for only you.

Letters nowadays aren't only old fashioned, they're also beautifully romantic, in the philosophic meaning of the word romantic. Not the cheesy stuff that romantic films show us every single time. The romantic haze of a letter I meant, is the haze the romantics from the nineteenth century looked for in paintings, poems and books. They wanted to live in this old world, in a dream world.

That is the kind of romantic I find in letters. Plus the fact that they're filled with words from those you like, those whom you don't oftenly see.

Do you ever write?

Green milk and a white caterpillar

Missing a place can be both a good thing or a bad.
This  summer I've spent my days in Canada, in New Brunswick to be more specific. In all honesty , I've experienced the most beautiful moments of my life there. Every single thing I did fell into place.
I can easily say (being a Belgian) that I've seen more trees than I've ever seen before. It must have been too much oxygen at once, for I was already amazed by caterpillars and bags of milk.
I have so many good memories of this period, and I can 't wait until I get back there .
Have you ever been to a place that you long for this much? It simply doesn't give you a break, does it?

Certain things will always fascinate me, such as nice views, food ( oh yes, chicken for sure) , people's faces, the emotions you can see in sceneries and so on.. So many things, if I had to list them all , you'd be reading this post for days. Because I don't want  to steal all your time of course, I'll just share some pictures with you, some photos of things that fascinate me.

When love takes over your mind

Have you ever felt something so strong that it easily pushed away any other feelings?

If someone or something gets a hold on your heart, is it needed to neglect it then? Or is it needed to change your heart so the feeling becomes part of you?
If ever  one feels comfortable enough to accept a new feeling without a hesitation, then I'd say he should tell everyone.

After quite a long time I've taken up Polyvore again.
it is in all honesty something I used to be rather addicted to. It's so much fun. You use pictures of anything you like and you put it together so that it becomes something unique. It's preferable to be creative, but even if you aren't you could easily make beautiful sets.

First day of the blog

To start off Rue du Petit Prince, I'd like to give you some background information about the name.
This is in fact the name of an actual street in France, more precisely in Valréas. The name's been in my mind ever since I saw it the first time.
It is to be said: French is a very poetic language, more than my native one at least, which is Flemish. We don't sing when we talk, we try to talk as fast and as short as possible.

Now back to France , the picture you can see above the second part of text is taken in Southern France, on a lovely summer's day.
You'll see some more pictures of French places .
